Hold My Hand: Exploring the Importance of Balancing Protection and Freedom for Children through Art and Conversation on the Hamsa

Mama Said and community partner, BZBI temple, join together to explore the subject of child protection and freedom with Jewish mothers using the Hamsa. The Hamsa is an ancient symbol in both Judaism and Islam faiths that represents "The Hand of the Holy Woman". The Hamsa is a symbol of strength, protection and blessings across all faiths. Using this symbol, Mama said will help mothers to examine and navigate the critical subject of protecting their child while allowing them freedom to explore their world.

Join us for crafts, coffee & conversation facilitated by Mama Said. The event will be held on Wednesday, December 2nd at the BZBI Temple. Please arrive between 8:30- 9 AM. The event will begin at 9AM and end at 10 AM. Children are welcome to attend. Light fare will be provided and a $5 donation is encouraged. To RSVP, please email caroline@mamasaidphl.com.

Postpartum Perfection: Look and Feel Your Best!

At Mama Said, we celebrate mamas as real life wonder women. We want you to look and feel amazing, but most importantly, like yourself!

We are thrilled to partner with Stroller Strides/Fit4Mom Philly and Career Wardrobe for this fun-filled night out!

Sip on champagne while stylists from Anthropologie help you to build the perfect postpartum wardrobe while we discuss ways to strengthen body image and self acceptance.

We all know what it feels like to look at a full closet and still have "nothing" to wear. Adjusting to a new shape after having a child(ren) only complicates the process of "getting ready" and we're here to help!

We encourage you to bring clothing items from your own closets to get the stylists' guidance on incorporating existing items and new Anthro items!

MAMA THREAD OPPORTUNITY:

Mama Thread is the philanthropic branch of Mama Said. It is an effort to expose mamas to non-profit organizations that address maternal health and wellness in Philadelphia and offer opportunities to assist with these initiatives.

We also encourage you to bring clothing items and accessories to this workshop that you would like to donate to Career Wardrobe.

Career Wardrobe's mission is to empower women in transition by providing programs that inspire the confidence necessary to achieve self-sufficiency and pursue a productive career. We do this by providing professional work attire, educational programs, and networking tools and opportunities.

Bring your donations with you to Anthropologie and we will get them to Career Wardrobe for you!

How to Get it and How to Keep it: Healthy Sleep for Your Child and Intimacy in Your Relationship

Join us for a fun, engaging, and interactive program about actually getting your kids to sleep and restoring intimacy in your relationship once they do!

The program will take place in two sessions and includes a delicious lunch (vegetarian options available) from Matt and Marie's that will be served in between. Participants will be placed in two groups (one before lunch and one after) to experience both aspects of the program in an intimate setting. See below for more information about each session and facilitator.

HEALTHY SLEEP FOR YOUR CHILD

Learn about the fundamentals of healthy sleep in infants and children and walk away with practical strategies for helping your child fall asleep and stay asleep longer!

Facilitated by: Sara Dasher Goldfuss is a Certified Infant and Child Sleep Consultant, early childhood teacher of 7 years, and mama of 2. Sara is the founder of Mommy Support Coaching and Consulting (www.mommysupport.net) and she provides personalized, thoughtful guidance for families of young children in need of sleep.

INTIMACY IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP

Finding time for intimacy after having a baby can be challenging. After caring for your child all day it's hard enough to remember to tell your partner that you love them, let alone muster  up enough energy to have sex. This workshop is designed to help women uncover new ways to be intimate with their partners after having a baby. Women will have the opportunity to share their stories, learn from one another, and get advice on how to bring the passion back into their love life.

Facilitated by: Hannah Afua Obeng is an Individual and Relational Therapist dedicated to helping people experience the best quality relationships. She is a member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), The Association of Black Sexologists and Clinicians (ABSC), and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Hannah received her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and is a Licensed Social Worker. She also has a postgraduate certification in Sex Therapy from the Council for Relationships. Hannah is passionate about helping you uncover and work through relationship or sexual issues that might be standing in the way of the relationship you deserve and desire.
